Once again we are heading into spring (eventually) and with that will be a drove on new graduates heading out into the world, or in most cases, back to their parents’ home. As I have noted before, our country is in crisis mode when it comes to trade workers (electricians, plumbers, heat and air, welders).

I strongly suggest to everyone out there who knows a young graduate to recommend that in addition to their college aspirations of being the next great writer or video game designer that they also learn the basics of a trade where they could gain employment with an opportunity for advancement. A good carpenter will always have a job.

The Second Amendment. Here we are over 200 years later, still showing our support for the writings of our founding fathers. The Second Amendment was simple and powerful and included many aspects such as self-defense, the ability to resist oppression and the ability to defend the State. Funny how the 1st and 2nd are so similar.

Pender County commissioners will be at the Hampstead Annex on Tuesday, Feb. 18 to hear the concerns of the people in regards to supporting the Resolution to support the Second Amendment. Onslow County unanimously supported theirs on Monday, following after several other counties throughout the state. To the people who feel it is a waste of time and unnecessary, please stay home, no need to waste any more of your time but to those who care about protecting rights, I hope to see you there.

If you live in the Surf City area and have not had the honor to meet Mark Robinson (the man who gave the wonderful speech at the Greensboro council meeting about rights) I strongly suggest that you mark your calendar. On Sunday, Feb. 16 from 4-7 p.m. he will be joining Congressional candidate Ethan Baca at Surf City BBQ. Stop by Surf City BBQ and pick up your tickets today.

After Shot Show in Las Vegas it is common to see some unique and unusual firearms starting to arrive in your local gun shops. This past week I received a triple barreled 12 gauge shotgun made by Charles Daly. I would share a photo but it sold right away! Another unique piece is the Standard Manufacturing’s S333 revolver. Special because it shoots 2 rounds of .22 magnum ammo at the same time and has an 8 round capacity. Make sure you are wearing hearing protection! This new revolver costs about $429.

While out taking your Sunday drive make sure you stop by your local gun shop to have a peak.

Remember knowledge is power, tradespeople are in short supply and our rights are not to be infringed upon.
