Randall Bryant was detained Sunday after trying to lure a juvenile into his vehicle.

SURF CITY -- Surf City police announced in a press release Monday that Randall Bryant has been charged with one count of attempted second-degree kidnapping.

Bryant, 44, of Hampstead, attempted Sunday to lure a juvenile from a public place into his vehicle, according to the press release. Bryant then left the area in his vehicle, and was eventually stopped by Surf City police.

Bryant physically resisted the officers and attempted to detain him. He was transported to the Pender County Jail and has been placed under a $32,000 bond.

According to Surf City police, Bryant already was required to maintain a lifetime sexual offender registry based on prior convictions. Bryant was arrested in 2009 and charged with attempted kidnapping, solicitation of statutory sex offenses and indecent liberties with a child.

In addition, Bryant has been charged with one count of resisting arrest, one count of simple assault, one count of being intoxicated and disruptive in public, and two counts of communicating threats. The incident is under further investigation.
