There will be three opportunities for Onslow County to meet the candidates for upcoming primary elections this week.

The Jacksonville-Onslow Chamber of Commerce has scheduled three candidate forums. The chamber invited all registered candidates to participate in a round-robin style discussion with pre-determined questions, according to a press release from the chamber.

"Each candidate will have a few minutes to answer the questions," the chamber wrote.

Chamber President Laurette Leagon said all of the questions will be delivered by a moderator. The candidates invited are all part of contested races for the upcoming primary. Registered candidates who will not appear on the ballot for the primary election on March 3 due to being the only candidate for their political party will not be part of the forums.

The first forum will feature registered candidates for the N.C. General Assembly at 9 a.m. Monday. Candidates include:

The forums will be held at Jacksonville City Hall, located at 815 New Bridge St., and are open for the public to attend.

Leagon said the forums will also be broadcast live on the local G10 television channel, on the G10 Facebook page, and on the chamber’s Facebook page. The forums will then be rebroadcast on G10 until the primary election.

Leagon invited all to watch the forum to "become an informed voter" before heading to the polls in 2020.
