Jones County has declared a State of Emergency and officials have released more information about pick up times for those needing a ride to the Jones County shelter, according to information from Jones County.

Pickups will now begin at 4 p.m. at the following locations:

Davis Chapel Mission Baptist Church (Long Point Area) 4:00-4:45.
Maysville Elementary School 5:00-5:45.
Pollocksville Elementary School 4:00-4:45.
Comfort Elementary School 4:00-4:45.
Pilgrim Home Church (Wyse Fork Rd/Burkett Rd) 4:00-4:45.


A voluntary evacuation and State of Emergency is in place for the Town of Maysville, and buses to Jones County shelters will be heading out this afternoon.

The evacuation order and State of Emergency was declared at 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Facebook post from the town.

The Jones County Civic Center will be open as a shelter, and buses will be staged at the following places to take people to the shelter at 5 p.m. today:

Comfort Elementary School, 4384 N.C. 41, Trenton
Pollocksville Elementary School, 300 Trent St., Pollocksville
Maysville Elementary School, 814 6th St., Maysville
Wyse Fork Pilgrim Home Church, 802 Wyse Fork Road, Dover


Trenton will not have a bus staging area since it is close to the Civic Center.

Jones County Schools closed at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday with plans to be closed on Thursday and Friday due to the storm, according to the town's post.
