WILMINGTON -- Rachel Cavenaugh, the director of financial aid at Cape Fear Community College, received the Eleanor S. Morris Distinguished Service Award at the recent North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NCASFAA) 2019 Spring Conference this past April. The Eleanor S. Morris Distinguished Service Award is the highest award given by NCASFAA.

The award is named for Eleanor S. Morris, a financial aid administrator of national reputation who served the students at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill as well as the profession admirably until her retirement. This award is presented to a financial aid administrator who has made important contributions to the Association or to the student financial aid profession.

Cavenaugh has worked in Financial Aid at Cape Fear Community and been involved with the NCASFAA for nearly 20 years. In that time, she has served the Association in a variety of leadership roles such as committee member, budget and finance chair, professional development chair, intermediate aid chair, veteran’s task force chair, vice president, president-elect, and president.
