The death of an Onslow County man is under investigation by the Coast Guard following a boating accident.

According to U.S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Jeremy Thomas, Coast Guard officials have not released the name of the deceased. However, friends organizing efforts to support the family say Tim Frank died in the Sunday incident.

The incident, the details of which have not been released by the Coast Guard, occurred around 7 p.m. Sunday on the Cape Fear River side of Kure Beach, Thomas said. There were no other injuries reported in the incident.

Many community members have already stepped up to show their support for the family.

Brittany Powell, of Sneads Ferry, started a “Meal Train” site to coordinate food deliveries to the family. She told The Daily News she started the page because she is close to the family, but deferred any questions about Frank to Mitchell’s Seafood. Representatives at Mitchell’s Seafood declined to comment, saying the death was too recent.

To support the meal delivery efforts, visit www.mealtrain.com and search “The Frank Family” or sign up here.
