Why are we so quick to judge?
An odd controversy has taken over some of the conversation in Surf City. The debate over food trucks has come to light after a local bar business began offering this option to its customers. The strange anger that has reared its ugly head is what concerns me. Would a food truck really alter your life? I think we need to address how easy it is to really divide people. Don’t we have more pressing issues? Aren’t their friends, family and neighbors still left homeless by the storm? Isn’t that something that is important? Perspective people, perspective.
Looking for something meaningful to do this holiday with your family? How about joining Daniel Blevins with helping our local friends and neighbors in need. The amount of work needed is overwhelming and any help at all would certainly be appreciated. Your time helping is more valuable than money.
Don’t know who Daniel Blevins is? Just look up all the wonderful things he has done and is doing for our community every day. He is a true role model.
Don’t like people? (don’t laugh a lot of people don’t like other people) then how about fostering a dog or cat to help your local humane society?
A woman who has lost a family member to the tragic event at a California night club begs people to stop sending her prayers and to start demanding more gun control. The problem? California is already one of the strictest states regarding gun control. How about she demand help for all the military suffering with PTSD who are getting left by the wayside.
A new craze to reach our area is indoor “Axe Throwing” venues. For a fun twist, many of them allow you to bring your own beer (I think the limit is 6 per person). This is a great way for people to really feel like Vikings and have a good time in the process. I know going to the range is a good way to get rid of stress, I’m sure throwing an ax can be just as rewarding! Though I have not been, it appears that it is a family friendly attraction and costs about $20 per person (for an hour).
Remember knowledge is power but passing judgement without really thinking about how it will affect your life or focusing more on presents then helping others during the holidays is something we all need to think about.
