Aquarium closed until noon for removal of seasonal exhibit
KURE BEACH -- The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher will be closed until noon on Nov. 8 due to the removal of "DINOSAURS!," a temporary, seasonal exhibit. Nov. 8 is the only day the Aquarium's hours of operation will be effected by the removal. The aquarium will be open noon-5 p.m. Nov. 8.

Fundraiser to benefit Wrightsville Beach Town employees
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH -- LM Restaurants presents a fundraiser to benefit the Wrightsville Beach Town employees affected by Florence and say, “Thank you for your service during the storm." The event will be held 4-8 p.m. Nov. 8 in the parking lot of Bluewater Waterfront Grill, 4 Marina St. Food will be provided by Bluewater Waterfront Grill, Oceanic Restaurant, Hops Supply Co., Henry’s Restaurant and Bar, Carolina Ale House, Mad Mole Brewing and Wrightsville Beach Brewery. Local breweries will also be on hand to sample their fall brews. There will be live entertainment and raffle items. Admission is free but a suggested donation of $25 or more will be accepted.

CFCC honors area veterans with ceremony Nov. 9
WILMINGTON -- Cape Fear Community College will honor military veterans with a special ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. Nov. 9 in Tabitha's Courtyard, Cape Fear Community College, 411 N. Front St. The event will feature the national anthem, remarks from U.S. Marine Veteran and CFCC Director of Veterans Affairs Ray Charfauros, U.S. Marine Veteran and CFCC student Kristen Wilkerson, and Vice Chairman of the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners Skip Watkins, among others. There will be a display of honor flags to recognize CFCC student and staff veterans and their loved ones.
The public is invited to attend.
Local fundraiser to support disaster relief
WILMINGTON -- The American Red Cross will be the beneficiary of a fundraiser to support disaster relief. The event will be held 6-10 p.m. Nov. 9 at at Waterline Brewery, 721 Surry St. The public is welcome and admission is free.
Waterline will donate a portion of their sales during the event to the Red Cross for local disaster relief efforts. Guests can participate in a silent auction and will also have an opportunity to make a charitable contribution to the Red Cross.
Entertainment for the evening will be provided by a local bluegrass bands Violet Bell and Into the Fog. The Port City Que BBQ food truck is also supporting the event and will be on site until 9 p.m.
