1. Pinwheel Masquerade Ball: The Child Advocacy Center's fifth annual Pinwheel Masquerade Ball & Auction to Unmask Child Abuse is scheduled for Oct. 13 at the Metropolitan Room in downtown Fayetteville. The event will include mask contests, a DJ, dance demonstrations, silent auction, live auction with vacation packages, refreshments and more. 2. Exhibit opening: Icons in Transformation, an internationally renowned exhibit by Russian-born contemporary artist Ludmila Pawlowska, is on display at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 1601 Raeford Road, through Jan. 11. It is free to the public. Guided tours are conducted Wednesdays from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and every third Saturday from September through December from 9 a.m. to noon. Other times for viewing the exhibit may be arranged by appointment by calling the church office at 910-484-2134 or emailing admin@holytrinityfay.org.

3. Missing Man Table initiative: The Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau through Heroes Homecoming is challenging community businesses and organizations to participate in the Missing Man Table initiative. The table honors the memory of missing or imprisoned military service members. Last year, 160 missing man table kits were distributed to Cumberland County businesses and organizations. The visitors bureau will provide the kit, which includes most items needed for the display. Kits can be picked up at 245 Person St. starting Oct. 25. The tables will be on display Nov. 1-12.
