Q: There is a rumor that Bojangles is going to build restaurants in Elizabethtown and/or White Oak. Do you know if there is any truth to this rumor?
— M.C., White Oak
A: Looks like there are no official plans for a Bojangles at this time. Billie Hall with Elizabethtown's planning and zoning board said no permits have been requested.
"Nothing has come through the planning department as far as any submissions for permit applications," Hall said.
The same goes for the White Oak area, said Bladen County planning director Greg Elkins.
"White Oak is rural. They don't even have a Hardee's there," Elkins said. "I would think that if something like that were to come here, it would be to Elizabethtown, which is the largest city in our county."
Q: I’m a diabetic and need to dispose of needles. Where can I take them?
A: You can dispose of used needles, or sharps, at the Ann Street Landfill's maintenance shop, said Jerry Brown, the interim director of Cumberland County Solid Waste Management. But they must be in a hard plastic container to be accepted.
Sharps should never be placed in the garbage, Brown said.
The landfill is at 698 Ann St. When you get there, ask a mechanic where the sharps drum is located.
For more information on what's accepted, go to co.cumberland.nc.us, click on the "Departments" tab and then on Solid Waste Management.
