If nothing else, the recent elections brought some very interesting issues to light.

First, Washington D.C. residents see nothing wrong with lighting a joint after dinner without it being a crime. Good for them. Maybe now we can empty our jails and prisons of potheads and put the child molesters, murderers, career criminals and corrupt politicians where they belong for years instead of months.

After the terrible tragedy at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, it was no surprise that Washington State voted to increase background checks to include gun shows for law abiding citizens. Nothing wrong with that. No law abiding citizen should have a problem with a simple background check to prove that you abide by the laws.

Iím not sure if any of the new restrictions would have prevented the shooting since it was a pistol that had been legitimately purchased. A good gun safe may have prevented it ó as well as Sandy Hook in Newtown, Connecticut ó but the past is the past.

Letís change gears to some ďgun talkĒ shall we? This year Iíve really enjoyed going target shooting with my new favorite long gun. Itís called a Rossi Circuit Judge and is a rifle/shotgun hybrid with a rotating cylinder like a revolver. Super easy, comfortable and fun to shoot. I love it. This long gun shoots both .410 shotgun shells (which also come in self-defense) and .45 long colt rounds. It is a beautiful, well-designed option for the person who wants something to get started and can handle with ease. No real kick, a lot of fun and the fiber optic sights make you feel like a pro. Prices range from $499 and up. Might make a nice Christmas present for someone on your list.

I hope everyone remembered to thank a veteran on Veteranís Day. There are so many wonderful men and women that have made what we have today possible.
