The Town of North Topsail Beach has a new manager.

The Town of North Topsail Beach has a new manager.

Stuart Turille was appointed as the new town manager by the NTB Board of Aldermen at its regular meeting on March 7.

Turille comes to the town from St. Pauls, where he managed five departments and obtained approximately $2 million in grants for the town within five years, according to a press release announcing his hiring.

Ive just always had a dream to be a coastal manager, and work on beach nourishment, hurricanes, how you protect the coast, how you develop the coast, and how you protect the natural aspect of it while balancing out with tourism and the interests of those who own land along the shore and coastal waterways, Turille said via the release.

Turille, who has prior coastal experience working for Broward County, Fla., holds a Master of Public Administration from Florida State University, a Master of Arts in International Affairs from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Virginia, according to the release.

Turille will begin working for the town on April 1. His initial salary will be $75,000 and will include health, vision, dental and life insurance benefits, as well as 401k enrollment and N.C. Retirement. He will also receive a retention bonus of $3,000 for the first year; $4,000 the second year, and $5,000 each year thereafter, all according to information provided by the town.

Turille takes over from Carin Faulkner, who added interim town manager duties to her town clerk role after Steve Foster resigned in September after just over two and a half years as town manager to accept the town manager position in Oak Island.
