Independence Day celebrations
• Town of Surf City presents on Thursday, July 3, Mark Roberts & The Breeze Band at 6 p.m. and fireworks display at 9 p.m. at Soundside Park. Bring your chair or blanket, no coolers or alcoholic beverages. Shuttle Service will be available at no charge.
• Annual Sneads Ferry Fireworks Jubilee is on Friday, July 4 at 7 p.m. at Sneads Ferry Community Center located at 126 Park Lane in Sneads Ferry. Featured band: Veronica Whaley and her Alibi. Food Vendors, meet and greet the newly crowned 2008 Shrimp Queens and join the official kick off for the 2008 Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival. VFW Post 9983 will be on hand to receive weathered American Flags for retirement. No pets.
• Holly Ridge Independence Day celebration begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 4 at Holly Ridge Park. Entertainment by the Holly Festival Talent Show winners and various concessions, funnel cakes, ice cream and drinks will be available. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
• Camp Lejeune Celebrates America's Birthday With Lee Ann Womack
Marine Corps Community Services, Camp Lejeune's Recreation Branch presents the July 4th Celebration on Friday, July 4 at W.P.T. Hill Field aboard Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune.
Features a children's' activities area, musical entertainment, sponsor displays and fireworks display. In addition to Lee Ann Womack, the musical entertainment will also feature one of country's newest singing sensations, Jace Everett and local artist The Karg Bros. The event's schedule of activities is as follows: The Karg Bros. 5 to 6 p.m./ Car give-a-way 6 p.m./ Jace Everett 6:30 to 7:15 p.m./ Lee Ann Womack 7:55 to 9 p.m./ Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
