Relay For Life of Pender County has selected Zander Guy to serve as Honorary Chair for this year’s Relay For Life. Zander has been an avid supporter of Pender’s relay since its inception 12 years ago. He has always contributed funds, attended fundraisers, judged pageants and been an advocate for the world’s largest grassroots fundraising movement, Relay For Life. Relay efforts mobilize communities throughout the country to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and provide participants with an opportunity to fight back against the disease.

Zander Guy has been the mayor of Surf City since 1999, has been a realtor/developer since 1972 and retired from Zander Guy Real Estate in 2011. Over the years Zander has been a member of the CFCC Board of Trustees, chairman and member of the NC ABC Commission, member of the NC Banking Commission, mayor of Jacksonville, councilman of Jacksonville, Local Government Advocacy Council, president of the Neuse River Council of Governments and was appointed to the U.S. Joint Civilian Orientation Conference. Zander Guy also holds honors such as the 2004 Kiwanian of the year, 2000 Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year, 2000 Realtor of the Year, 2000 Topsail Island Kiwanis Service Award, Jaycees Distinguished Service Man of the Year, Boy Scout Citizen of the Year and the 4-H Leaf Award. He also is a past president of the Topsail Island Association of Realtors, past president and current member of the Topsail Island Kiwanis Club, member of the Topsail Island Historical Society and is a founding member of the Faith Harbor United Methodist Church in Surf City .

The Relay For Life of Pender County takes place at Topsail High School Football/Track Field on May 3, beginning at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to participate.
