Democrat meet and greet
U.S. Congressional candidates Marshall Adame and Jonathan Barfield are headlining the meet and greet reception hosted by Pender Democrats.
The reception is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on May 20 at the Hampstead Community Building (Hampstead Women’s Club) .
Adame, from Jacksonville is challenging Republican incumbent Walter Jones Jr.  Barfield, from Wilmington, is a New Hanover County commissioner running for the seat being vacated with Congressman Mike McIntyre’s pending retirement.
Other Democratic candidates scheduled to attend include Ernie Ward of Brunswick County, who is running for the N.C. Senate 9th District seat; Steve Unger of Hampstead, who is running for the 16th District N.C. House seat; Pender commissioner candidates Chris Medlin in District 1, Charles Tippitt in District 2 and Eugene Meadows in District 3; Susan Lunsford who is running for Pender clerk of court; and Pender Sheriff candidate Scott Lawson. All candidates will give brief presentations with a question and answer period to follow.
The Hampstead Community Building (Hampstead Women’s Club) is located at 14435 U.S. Highway 17 North, just south of the N.C. 210 downtown intersection. The meet and greet is open to the general public, and light refreshments will be served. Voter registration applications will also be available.
