The United States is turning 237 on Thursday and area towns will host a bevy of celebrations, July 4. Here’s where you can celebrate Independence Day in the community.
There be a concert at 6 p.m. featuring Hampstead based band Mark Roberts and Breeze. There will be a hot dog stand provided by the Surf City Fire Department Auxiliary.
The fireworks display will start at 9 p.m.
Both the concert and the display will take place at Soundside Park, located at 517 Roland Ave. All bags brought to the park will be checked.
Onslow County Parks and Recreation will hold its annual Fourth of July Freedom Festival at Onslow Pines Park on 1244 Onslow Pines Rd starting at 3 p.m.
The event will include rides, concessions and face painting. The event will also include live music from Raleigh based band The Embers and Jacksonville based band the Fire Rocket Band. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. For more information, call 910-347-5332.
The Town of Holly Ridge will hold its celebration at Holly Ridge Municipal Park at 3 p.m. The event will include vendors selling food and crafts, music, face painting, corn hole and inflatables for children. Fireworks will begin at dark.
Parking and admission is free, though the inflatables will cost $1 for a five minute session and $5 for the afternoon.

Swansboro Parks and Recreation will hold its annual celebration in downtown Swansboro (around Old Town Square). The festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with shops in the downtown area open to patrons as well as vendors selling food.
Between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., local band Coastline will perform live music. The fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m.

The town of Emerald Isle will host its weekly EmeraldFest as well as a fireworks display.
Local reggae band Selah Dubb will perform at Emeraldfest, located at the Western Oceanic Regional Access at 9003 Louis Ave. The event is free and no alcohol is allowed. Directly after the show, the fireworks display will commence off the BogueInletPier. The fireworks will also be visible from BogueSound as well as the Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway.

Atlantic Beach will have its fireworks display at 9 p.m. at The Circle, located at 115 Atlantic Blvd. in downtown Atlantic beach. There will be vendors selling pizza and hot dogs throughout the evening.

The town of Morehead City will start their Independence Day festivities at 7 p.m. with a concert by the Main Event Band of Greenville at Jaycee Park at 807 Shepard Street. The fireworks show will commence at 9 p.m. from Sugarloaf Island.

Beaufort will host an all day celebration starting with a parade at 11 a.m. in Downtown Beaufort starting at the corner of Gordon and Front Streets. There will be a community picnic at the courthouse after the parade with free ice cream and music.
The fireworks will start at 9 p.m.at Gallant Channel.
CampLejeunewill provide an array of free activities throughout the day for military members, military retires and military families. The activities will include free games and shoe rentals at BonnymanBowlingCenter, free beach equipment rental at Onslow Beach Crab Shack, free greens fees and club rentals at Paradise Point Golf Course, free boating rentals on non-motorized vehicles, free entry into all pools, free skeet and archery shooting and free film viewings at the Base Theater.
