Historical society board
Historical Society of Topsail Island has announced its 2014-15 board members.  Officers for 2014-15 will be President Marcia Hamilton; Vice President Galena Branton; Recording Secretary Susie Braun; Treasurer Bobbie Morrison; and Trustees Cecile Broadhurst, Virginia, Butch and Bill Horstmann. Autum with Topsail will be headed by Keith Myers; bingo by Barry Newscome; and Sue Newscome will serve as scheduling coordinator.  Maintenance will be handled by Keith Myers. The Missiles and More museum will be directed by Rose Peters with Tyndll assuming the merchandising position. Luncheons will be coordinated by Susie Braun. Membership is headed by Susanne Murray and programs are coordinated by Catherine Brown. The organization, which began in 1982 to promote and develop local history, is open to all interested persons. The He & She Show
Port City Comedy and The Mainsail Restaurant are teaming up for an upcoming comedy date night.
The He & She Show features Doug and Teresa Wyckoff, who are more than midway on their 101-day, 50 state: Newlywed Comedy Tour: Portland (Oregon) to Portland (Maine). The duo, both comedians, will share those funny, awkward and sometimes embarrassing moments that exist in all relationships. The show, which will also include local surprise comedy guests and is hosted by Steve Marcinowski, will be held Sept. 13 at 8 p.m. in the Mainsail Restaurant’s Commodore Room, 404 Roland Ave. in Surf City. Admission is $5.
