Most Improved Local Health Department
Pender County Health Department has been awarded “Most Improved Local Health Department” by the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services
The department was nominated for the award by Vivian Mears, RN, BSN, with the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services. Mears points to improvements in the timeliness of disease investigation and reporting at the county level, policy and procedure development and revisions since their original publication in 2011, regularly scheduled Epidemiology Team meetings, and the creation of a nurse supervisor position to work with the director of nursing and communicable disease nurse to create a more productive program, as some of the reasons why she nominated Pender County Health Department.
