The Friends of the Sneads Ferry Library will hold a book sale July 10 through 12. July 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. is members’ preview, and the sale will be open to the public on July 11 from 2 to 6 p.m. and July 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Book donations are being accepted at the Sneads Ferry Branch Library up until the date of the sale. Fizz, Boom Read! 
Discover the stories behind the science this summer at Hampstead Branch Library and at the library in Burgaw.  Each week, youth specialists Ann Mendenhall and Terri Strong will present books and a variety of activities specially planned to bring the wonder and excitement of reading and science to children age 2 to 12, attending with their adult caregivers.  Each week of the program features different books and activities including hands on science for elementary age children along with fun projects for everyone to take home. The program is free, and no pre-registration is required.
