Cheer camp
Surf City Parks & Recreation is offering  its first cheerleading camp, Camp Cheer, at Surf City Community Center July 21 through 25 from 9 a.m. to noon. Led by Sneads Ferry’s Coastal Storm All Stars cheerleading coach Victoria Scott, the program is designed for girls and boys ages 8 to 14.
Both beginners and more advanced participants are welcome to attend Camp Cheer where they will work on cheer routines, choreography and various skill sets. 
The camp is limited to the first 24 who sign up. Register at townofsurfcity.com. The cost is $95 per person, and all participants receive a camp T-shirt. For more information, call 910-328-4887 or e-mail athletics@townofsurfcity.com.
 
Read Aloud campaign
Pender County Public Libraries have joined with 800 partners across the county in support of the Read Aloud 15 Minutes Campaign.
