Rice Festival
Palnning is underway for the first North Carolina Rice Festival to celebrate the region’s rice growing history with presenting sponsor the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce. The festival will be held at The Brunswick Riverwalk at Belville, 580 River Road, on Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a rice cooking contest, arts and crafts, commercial vendors, children’s entertainment zone, youth art contest and an adult beverage tent. Entertainment includes the Imitations playing a variety of beach, soul and rock & roll from 1 5 p.m. Sept. 20 and the Unknown Tongues Cajun Zydeco Music on Sept. 21 from 1 to 5 p.m. Entry fee is $5 for adults; children 12 and under are free. Coolers are not permitted.

Holly Ridge Sampler
Do you have a business, craft, product or service that you would like your community to see, taste, experience, sample and/or buy? The Holly Ridge Sampler will be held at the Holly Ridge Fire Department on U.S. 17 on Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be no charge to vendors, but participants are asked to make a donation to the fire department.
