NCRWA staff attend training


TULSA, Okla. — The N.C. Rural Water Association recently attended the National Rural Water Association’s (NRWA) In-Service training June 5-7 in Tulsa, Okla. This event gives staff the opportunity to attend training sessions specific to their roles, including water and wastewater technical assistance and training, source water protection planning, member services and communications, finance and management. Training classes included topics such as advanced methods of leak detection, drones, office emergency response, active shooter training and social media.

Furnitureland Contract opens


JAMESTOWN — Business professionals from all over the state attended the Grand Opening of Furnitureland Contract, Furnitureland South’s brand-new office furniture showroom, on June 6. Furnitureland South, the world’s largest furniture store and leader in the home furnishings retail industry, now includes a state-of-the-art, 30,000-square-foot showroom that focuses on designing offices and workspaces. Jeff Harris, Furnitureland South CEO and president, said that Furnitureland Contract is an extension of the vision his father, Furnitureland South’s founder, had for the world’s largest furniture store.

ASHEBORO — Free Work Place Computer Skills I and II classes will be taught at the Goodwill Career Center in Asheboro:


* Summer classes: Computer Skills 1 on Mondays and Wednesdays, July 9-Aug. 8, from 9 a.m.-noon; and Computer Skills 2 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 10-Aug. 9, from 9 a.m.-noon.


* Fall classes: Computer Skills 1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 21-Oct. 11, from 9 a.m.-noon; and Computer Skills 2 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 16-Dec. 18, from 9 a.m.-noon.
