1. Gospel Explosion: Grammy nominated contemporary gospel singer Ricky Dillard and his choir will perform March 17 at Fayetteville State University’s Gospel Explosion. The concert is scheduled for 6 p.m. in J.W. Seabrook Auditorium. Tickets are $25 for the general public, $20 for alumni, faculty, staff and the military. 2. Lip Sync Showdown: Tickets are on sale for Fayetteville’s Ultimate Lip Sync Showdown scheduled for March 24 at the Crown Center Ballroom. A social hour begins at 6 p.m.; the show starts at 7. Proceeds benefit the Child Advocacy Center. Local “celebrities” will battle it out for the title of Fayetteville’s Ultimate Lip Sync star. Audience participation determines the winner of the People’s Choice award. Tickets are $50 per person for standard table seating and $75 per person for VIP table seating. 3. Go Red for Women Heart Event: Southeastern Health will host a Go Red for Women Heart Event at Biggs Park Mall in Lumberton on Feb. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature a display of red dresses and a presentation on women and heart disease in the center court at noon. Complimentary heart healthy heavy hors d’oeuvres will be provided as well as free give-a-ways and health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. The event will include booths with information about women’s health, cancer prevention, breast health, fitness, heart health, wound care and more.
