A man tried to break into an apartment overnight Wednesday, Dec. 6, repeatedly shooting the door after residents inside barricaded it, Burlington police say.
At 2:39 a.m., officers responded to a shots-fired call at an apartment at 119 N. Ireland St.
Three men inside told police that a “subject named ‘Travis’” attempted to get inside the apartment by kicking the door and breaking the door frame. The three barricaded the door with a couch and called police.
“After the suspect realized the victims had barricaded the door, he began shooting the door … with what has been determined to be a BB gun,” Burlington police said in a release Wednesday.
Police stressed that the attempted break-in wasn’t random, and that the victims know the suspect.
Burlington police didn’t release any other information identifying a suspect, including a full name or physical description, Wednesday morning.
