A Fayetteville man died Tuesday night in a car crash on Purdue Drive.
A 22-year-old man died Tuesday after the car he was driving left Purdue Drive and struck a tree, Fayetteville Police said. A passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police said Tony L. McKeithan of the 2900 block of Gordon Way was traveling south on Purdue at about 10:52 p.m. when the 1998 Ford Explorer he was driving left the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger, Ontez V. Small, 20, also of the 2900 block of Gordon Way, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
The Fayetteville Police Department's traffic unit is investigating the cause of the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 433-1807 or Crimestoppers at 483-8477.
