Snow — the word that inspires Southerners to clear grocery store shelves of bread, eggs and beer — is in the forecast going into a cold weekend in Fayetteville.
But it looks as if it will be extremely light dusting, according to the National Weather Service.
After a chilly and potentially rainy Thursday and Friday, there is a 60 percent chance of rain mixed with snow between 4 and 7 a.m. Saturday morning, the forecast issued Wednesday says.
But with the low temperature at 34, just above freezing, little to no snow accumulation is predicted.
Saturday’s high temperature is projected to be around 46, and the chance of rain into Saturday is 30 percent.
The coldest temperatures so far this season will follow. The low Saturday night is expected to be around 26, and Sunday is anticipated to be sunny and 45. Sunday night will be clear with a low of 24.
