1. U-Pick grapes: U-Pick grapes are now available at Lu Mil Vineyard. The business is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. Stop by the gift shop for a bucket and directions to the picking field. 2. Cups with Cops: Fayetteville State University's Criminal Justice Department and Starbucks are hosting a panel-led discussion Aug. 22 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. about fostering quality relationships between the Fayetteville Police Department and residents. The event will be at Shaw Auditorium on the FSU campus.
3. NAACP Membership Banquet: The Fayetteville branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will have its 29th annual membership banquet Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. at the John D. Fuller Recreation Center, 6627 Old Bunce Road. The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Curtis Gatewood, former state field director for the NAACP North Carolina State Conference. 4. Signal ball: Fort Bragg will host a signal ball Aug. 26 at the Ramada Plaza Fayetteville, 1707 Owen Drive. The cost is $45 per ticket. The deadline to purchase tickets is Aug. 18. All Fort Bragg personnel within the signal community or related organizations are invited. The Signal Corps Regimental Association also will host a golf tournament Aug. 25 at Ryder Golf Course.
