1. Illuminated Christmas Parade
The annual Richlands Christmas Parade will kick off at dusk Saturday at Richlands High School before traveling through downtown Richlands. More than 60 participants are registered and entries can be submitted through 5 p.m. To enter, visit RichlandsNCChamber.com, print and fill out the form, and turn it in at Richlands Town Hall. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with children at the Onslow County Museum following the parade.
2. Poplar Grove Plantation’s annual Christmas Festival
The annual festival at Poplar Grove Plantation will include the Manor House Candlelight and Trail of Lights tours run from 5 to 7 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tours will be available Dec. 8 - 10, and Dec. 17 - 20. A camp fire will be blazing for roasted marshmallows and a mailbox for posting those letters to Santa. Visit PoplarGrove.org for ticket prices and more information.
3. Live nativity
Join Emmanuel Independent Baptist Church as they step back in time to witness the events surrounding the birth of Jesus. In this walk-through outside drama, you will experience performances, caroling and live animals. There will also be hot chocolate and cookies served. The live nativity will be performed Dec. 9 and 10 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The church is located at 120 Bell Street in Swansboro. For more information, call 252-393-7300.
4. Watch a movie with Santa
The 3rd annual Santa and a Movie will take place at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 at Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation, 7500 Emerald Drive. Children of all ages can join Santa for a Christmas story after enjoying milk and cookies and watching a short Christmas movie. Kids are encouraged to wear their most comfy Christmas pajamas and guests are encouraged to bring a blanket for your family to sit on during the movie. Admission fee is one unwrapped gift per child. 5. Gingerbread Festival
Come join the fun at the 4th annual Crystal Coast Hospice House Gingerbread Festival at the Crystal Coast Civic Center Dec. 9 to 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enter your edible masterpiece to benefit SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House and for a chance to win great prizes and revel in that “gingerbread feeling.” For more information, call 252-808-2244.
