College noted for continued support of military students

Coastal Carolina Community College has taken a special interest in their students that wear or have worn dog tags, earning them a spot on the Victory Media Military Friendly Schools list.

Director of Public Information Krystal Phillips said CCCC is proud to have earned the recognition, announced Nov. 15, again.

“Coastal takes great pride in its partnership with the local military community,” she said.

During the spring term this year more than 396 active-duty military members and 1,065 veterans enrolled in curriculum programs, with 165 graduating in the spring commencement, Phillips said.

Victory Media’s military friendly award honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools working to assist service members, veterans and spouses be successful on their campuses.

An extensive survey coupled with an assessment of CCCC’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, and job placement for all students — specifically for military service members — has placed them on the list three years in a row. Coastal Carolina Community College was recognized for its commitment to creating a supportive environment for military students.

There are 1,868 schools on the military friendly schools list this year, each school demonstrating a wide-range of services to support a military student including on-campus resources, programs, policies, flexibility and academic excellence.
