Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is scheduled to be in Kinston Wednesday evening for a rally.

The event will be at 7 p.m. at the Kinston Jet Center and gates will open at 4 p.m. Tickets can be requested at

North Carolina Republican Party Vice-Chairwoman and Kinston resident Michelle Nix encouraged Trump supporters and non-Trump supports to attend the event to hear both sides of the issues.

"I think it's fantastic that Donald Trump is paying attention to ENC and for him to know how important and vital we are for him to win his campaign," Nix said.

Residents interested in attending the rally are encouraged to get there early.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton does not have any appearances scheduled for Kinston or Eastern North Carolina at press time.

Lenoir County Democratic Party Chairman Jimmy Cochran said, "We are 100 percent behind Hillary Clinton" when asked about the rally.

Early voting began Thursday in North Carolina. While voters are required to vote in their home precincts on Nov. 8, they can vote in any of the one-stop centers during early voting, which runs Oct. 20 to Nov. 5.
