A presentation of the “State of the State’s Budget” will be held this week, followed by questions about the state’s budget.

Jacksonville Onslow Economic Development and the Jacksonville-Onslow Chamber of Commerce has invited the North Carolina State budget director, Andrew Heath to answer questions on the budget 3-5 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Onslow County Government Center, 234 NW Corridor Blvd. in Jacksonville.

“He will basically be doing a presentation of the state of North Carolina’s budget and take questions,” Sheila Knight, executive director of Jacksonville Onslow Economic Development, said.

The organization is hoping to have at least 100 people attend the event. In past years, they’ve arranged events for the North Carolina Department of Commerce or events from the governor’s office, Knight said.

Community members can benefit from attending the session.

“If you run a business quite frankly or if you are an elected leader, then you will be aware of the economy of state has an effect on you,” Knight said. “It could have a positive or negative impact on you whether (the economy is) good or bad.”

The event is open to the public and questions for Heath don’t need to be submitted in advance. For more information, call 910-939-7023 or email joed@joednc.com.
