World War II veterans dinner: 6:30 p.m., Veterans of Foreign Wars, 3250 W. Franklin Blvd., Gastonia. The VFW is hosting this gathering to honor all veterans of World War II. Those attending are invited to eat and then socialize as long as desire afterward. All World War II veterans who attend will be invited to sign a memorial poster of a tank crew that fought in the war, and which will be placed in the VFW section of Memorial Hall on Second Avenue in downtown Gastonia. The guest speaker will be Adam Ragan, Gaston County Board of Elections, who will give an overview of the Board of Elections and the election process. PFLAG Gaston is a support group for family and friends of and the LGBTQ community in Gaston County. Meets the third Thursday of the month, the social time is at 7 p.m. and the meeting is from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.. The meeting is confidential. It is held upstairs in the large room at the church.
