1. Take in state title game
Northside (29-0) will square off against North Surry on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh for the NCHSAA 2-A boys’ basketball championship. Northside will be vying for its first state title in any sport since the school opened its doors in 2001. Admission is $10. But if you can’t go, it is also scheduled to be televised on Time Warner Cable, Channel 323.
2. Tune into a classic car show
Join Hot Import Nights Saturday for a day of tuning culture and lifestyle with cars, models, music, and drone racing. This will be a massive street scene car show, food festival and main stage block party. There will be food, drinks, a Kid’s Zone. Family-friendly event. General admission tickets are $20, military admission is $10 and children under 12 get in free. Show goes 2-10 p.m. on New Bridge Street in Jacksonville.
3. Get ready for the big day
It’s a good weekend to prepare for your wedding day. The Engaged Onslow Bridal Expo will feature a bridal progressive rehearsal dinner tonight and a venue tour Saturday. The vendor event goes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature three fashion shows Saturday showcasing brides, bridesmaids, groomsmen and mother of the bride attire. The Beach Bridal Fashion Show is at 11:30 a.m., the Military/Formal Bridal Fashion Show is at 12:30 p.m. and the Country Chic Bridal Fashion Show is at 1:30 p.m. There will also be an Ultimate Honeymoon Giveaway at 2:30 p.m. The event is located at Jacksonville Commons, 100 Recreation Lane. 4. Race the 2017 GrandPrix series

5. Run for a cause
The 12th annual Neuse River Bridge Run is Friday and Saturday, along with an accompanying event, the March for Sickle Cell. Races will begin at Union Point Park in New Bern, with headquarters at the nearby New Bern Riverfront Convention Center, 203 South Front St. The races will be separate events, with the Bridge Run raising funds for eight area nonprofits. 6. Battle for New Bern
On Saturday and Sunday, as many as 1,500 re-enactors will come to Western Craven County for the Battles of New Bern, commemorating the 155th anniversary of the original Battle of New Bern. It will be held at what is known as the Kinsey Farm, 7860 N.C. 55, Dover, near Fort Barnwell, and hosted by Rains Brothers Camp 1370, the 7th NCT Co. F, 5th NCT Co. 7. Catch a flick
Only one big film is opening this weekend: “Kong: Skull Island” the latest reboot of the King Kong movies. This one takes place in the early 1970s as a team of explorers and researchers travel to an uncharted island unaware that they are trespassing into the king of the apes’ domain.
8. Spring forward
Time springs forward early Sunday morning, and you can have fun with it by making a game of changing all the clocks and changing the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. You can also plan some spring-themed events — winter is almost over!
9. Enjoy dessert
Bake some of America’s favorite dessert as Chocolate Chip Cookie Week concludes this weekend. Or celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day on Sunday by making some apple-based delights (such as an apple pie or cobbler).
10. Get crafting
March is National Craft Month and therefore a good time to pick up a new hobby or practice one you already know. Knock out a couple of projects from your Pinterest account. Or check out Youtube or Craftsy for tutorials on various crafts — from baking to knitting to embroidery to sewing and more.

Selection Sunday — the day when the NCAA tournament field is set — is this weekend. CBS will air the official draw and brackets live from 5:30-7 p.m. ETe and you can start filling out your brackets soon thereafter.
