Key Leadership and Orientation combines with Pender Early College
Pender Early College and the Kiwanis Club of Topsail Island joined together to transform the regular school orientation into a key leadership program for the incoming freshman . Students participated in a combined program of the school. Kiwanis Clubs sponsor Key Leadership weekends at high schools across the county; however, Pender Early College is one of two early college high schools in North Carolina that have combined freshman orientation with Key Leadership.
"This is really unique," said Kiwanian Tim Horner. "We are doing a key leadership program over two days that will be their orientation. These students seem to get involved in the teamwork and continue toward the goals. This can foster a commitment to a positive aspect of school that we consider worthwhile, rather than getting trapped into some kind of destructive cycle."
Certificates of Appreciation were presented to participants of the Key Leadership and the Early College Program in Pender County.
