“Justice in Motion” Barb Lynch speaks to Kiwanians
The Kiwanis Club of Topsail Island met for their Tuesday morning meeting and breakfast at the Holly Ridge Smokehouse Restaurant. They welcomed Barb Lynch, Director Court Monitoring Program for New Hanover and Brunswick Counties. Barb said she has been monitoring progress with "Justice in Motion" and has been monitoring the New Hanover Court District courts for some four years - two courtrooms per day, Monday through Thursday and the DWI appealed cases in superior court. On average, Barb said the most cases she as seen scheduled in one day were 195. Justice in Motion also supports the sobriety checkpoints with volunteers, dinner, desserts, coffee and soft drinks, Ale Keys to Life Programs, Safe Prom Program, Annual Tree of Life and Candlelight Vigil. In conjunction with the process we coordinate educational programs with the New Hanover High School, ABC Commission, The N.C. Trucking Association and have just added a new program from the GHSP (workstation simulation of youth reactions to driving situations after one, two and three plus alcoholic beverages. Barb supplied the Kiwanians with amazing statistics.
