National Day of Prayer

The May 1, 2008 National Day of Prayer was held at noon at the Surf City Community Center. Mayor Zander Guy opened the program with prayer and introduced the guest pastors of the day: The Rev. Jesse C. Staton, Jr., Pastor of Faith Harbor United Methodist Church, and Rev. Don Myers, Pastor of The Chapel By the Bay.

The theme for 2008 is ‘Prayer! America's Strength and Shield'" and is based on the verse from Psalm 28:7 which states, "The Lord is my strength and shield, my heart trusts in Him and I am helped."

Both reverends presented statements from the scriptures, which were well received by the congregation. At the conclusion, Mayor Guy presented representatives of local churches a Certificates of Appreciation for their participation in the Surf City Day of Prayer.
