Sneads Ferry Bingo

Sneads Ferry Beautification Committee
New Dining and Value Guides are here and can be used through December 31, 2010. From fast food to fine dining, you will find an enormous selection of restaurants to choose from, many offering "two for the price of one" meals, discounts for many area businesses such as Sears, Best Buy, Walgreen's, Advance Auto, golf courses, amusements, and many more. Areas served are: Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, Sneads Ferry, Topsail, Jacksonville and adjoining areas. With all of the discounts offered, the $25 cost will come back to you after one or two uses. The holidays are coming, they

Guide sales are our major fundraiser and enable SFBC to continue maintaining several plant beds in our area and support our colorful banner program.

Lowe’s Home Improvement of Surf City holds Blood Drive
All blood types are needed
Surf City, NC—Every two seconds someone in this country needs blood. Lowe’s Home Improvement of Surf City is helping make sure that blood is available by sponsoring a blood drive with the American Red Cross on Thursday, January 7 from 2 to 6:30 p.m.
“We are extremely grateful to Lowe’s Home Improvement for sponsoring the blood drive during one of our most challenging times of the year,” states Tanya Tilley-Hall, Donor Services, American Red Cross. “Their support is a gift to the community.”
By sponsoring a blood drive, Lowe’s Home Improvement is helping save and improve the lives of individuals in need of blood. In addition, their sponsorship ensures that a safe blood supply is available at all times for all members of the community.
The blood drive is open to the public who are at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, be in general good health, and have a picture I.D.
Blood Donors are encouraged to call 329-6952 ext. 0 for appointments or information.
BBQ Dinner Fundraiser
For David Workman, a local fisherman who has become very ill and is unable to work. Saturday, January 9 at the BP Station in Sneads Ferry. BBQ Plates- $6: BBQ Plates include BBQ Pork, Potato Salad or Baked Beans and Slaw.

Sneads Ferry Community Theatre
Auditions
Tuesday and Wednesday, January 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. at the Sneads Ferry Community Center 126 Park Lane.
Needed: Four Men and Two Women for the March production of “Everybody Loves Opal” by John Patrick. Attempted murder wouldn't seem to be funny, but in Mr. Patrick's magic hands it is uproarious.

Surf City Artists Guild
• The Turtles are coming!
The guild is also very excited about sponsoring an event to benefit the Turtle Hospital. This will involve public art displays featuring sculptures of loggerhead turtles. • Topsail Chamber of Commerce in Surf City will exhibit artwork from SCAG artists each month.

Vintage photographs and stories of Sneads Ferry are wanted!
Do you have archives of old photographs or vintage postcards? Are you knowledgeable about your local history? Would you like to help preserve your community’s fascinating history? Local residents Sherry Thurston and Joshua Thurston are currently compiling a photographic history of Sneads Ferry and are looking for your help! They are assembling historic images of Sneads Ferry and the stories that go with them to include in an upcoming book to be published by Arcadia Publishing, the nation’s leading publisher of local and regional history. New Classes:
Gentle & Beginner Exercise
This class is open to all women age 40-plus who want to exercise, but need to start slowly and gently. It will be a positive, supportive group that uses DVDs and videos as the basis of instruction. An unpaid facilitator will lead the group and class members will be asked to volunteer on occasion, as well. Casual loose clothing is recommended. Participants will need their own exercise mats, water bottles, and small towels. Examples of videos and DVDs that will be used include Tai Chi, Walking, Richard Simmons, Pilates, and more. The class will meet from 10 to 11 a.m., M-F for two weeks in order to determine most popular days. The first day of class will be Monday, January 4.
