Friends of the Library Supports The Battle of the Books
Hampstead’s Elementary, Middle and High School students have an ample supply of books this summer as they prepare for the Battle of the Books. Topsail Township’s Friends of the Library has purchased supplementary copies of the books on 2009-2010 Battle of the Books Booklist. The books are available at the Hampstead Branch Library.
America’s battle of the books is a voluntary reading incentive program for students in grades 3-12. A student participates by reading from the book list provided for that year’s America’s Battle of the Books. A typical “Battle” is a full day tournament or game, like the college Bowl, in which students’ teams answer questions about the books on the book list. The school’s battles are held in March or April.
The Friends are proud to support Hampstead students as they participate in this program, which introduces them to quality literature and fosters the enjoyment of reading. Become a member of the Friends of Library by picking up an enrollment form at the library.
