Skateboading on thin ice?
With all the growth and expansion going on in Surf City, it's amazing that more people don't show up for Town Council meetings and other committee meetings where decisions are being made regarding the use of Surf City's tax dollars. For example, few people know that at the last Recreation Committee Meeting a sub-culture of a half dozen people requested that the town build a skateboarding park at a cost of over $400,000.00 (that's just to build it). This price tag does not include tax payers costs to staff it, maintain it, or liability issues.
These are your tax dollars being spent. Whether you're for or against our future growth issues you should make your thoughts known. Anyone can stop by Town Hall, check the Town of Surf City website and find out when and where the next meetings are. There is always an open forum at these meetings when you can share your feelings.
