  • Both Topsail Middle School gym and its auxiliary gym were packed to capacity this past Saturday to see the youth of our community stage basketball competitiveness before the Christmas break.In the coed first and second grade group, Giggles Drop-In Childcare upended Otereo Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, Ship On Site were winners over the Village Pharmacy, and Brad Wallace Landscaping & Irrigation posted an impressive win over Say It Loud Designs.
    Blake Fisher of the Say It Loud Designs squad hit the nets for 20 markers in a losing cause.
    In the Girls 3rd-5th grade division of TBA, Pierpan Family Dentistry notched a victory by beating Element Technical Services LLC 26-12. Aiden McGuire tickled the nets for 15 counters for Pierpan. Beaman Turf & Irrigation outscored Englese’s Family Restaurant with Shelby Parker hitting for 12 points for the irrigation outfit.
    Boys 3rd-4th grade sector saw several great games. Prism Custom Painting topped Halley White Pediatric Dentistry 20-14 with Hayden Naylor scoring 14 points, Brett Adams Homes winning out over Carolina Scratch Repair with Cannon Keziah bucketing 12 markers, and in the nightcap, Healthy Boundaries scored well in the first half of play to win a 23-13 decision over Prism Custom Painting.
    In high school division play, Sport Shots escaped with a narrow victory over Second Wind Fitness Center 45-41. Grayson Venters topped the Sport Shots scoring parade with 17 and Patrick Holdren tossed in 16 for the losing Fitness guys. Cherubini Orthodontist eked out a narrow margin over Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire 32-30. Denzel Lewis popped the nets for 12 points for Cherubini, and Tyler Ording hit for 14 in a losing cause for the Hilton clan.
    Girls 6th-8th graders saw Nash Equipment Company winning over Pender Pines Garden Center Inc. with Lauren Caveness topping the scoring list for Nash with 12 points, and Thomas Construction Group continuing their winning ways over Hampstead Women’s Club.
    In the biggest group of TBA, 5th and 6th grade boys, a down-to-the-wire nail bitter saw Davis Fence win 25-24 over Surf City Dental-Dr. Matthew Parr. Aidan Dillion poured in 14 for the Davis Fence aggregation. Surf City Tire & Auto took the Bagel Bakery to task, winning by 10 with Derek Gardner Jr. hitting the twines for 23 big points. LAIFinancial.com over Discovery Place with Jamison Long hitting for 15, the Ogden Tap Room over 84 Lumber 24-19 with James Stuart and Connor Wilson each hitting 10 points for their respective teams, while Canady & Son Exterminating defeated the Darden Insurance Agency.
    Winding up the full day of TBA basketball play, the 7th and 8th grade boys took center stage.
    In a nip and tuck contest, Hwy 55 Hampstead edged SPI 24-23, Dick’s Sporting Goods bounced AllKIndOfStuff.Biz with an even scoring attack with Alex Holland and Wright Harrison leading the way, and Scott’s Hill Hardware & Supply winning out over Lisa Mathews Re/Max Essential 32-27. Jacob Floyd let the way for the Hardware guys with 9 points while Barrett Holmes and Dawson Asbury both threw in 8 points for the Re/Max team.
    Page 2 of 2 - TBA will break for the Christmas Holidays and resume play on Jan. 11 in both Topsail Middle School Gyms. Plan on coming out and support your local youth in action in this great TBA Basketball Program.
