We were honored to be joined by about 50 survivors walking the opening Survivors Lap, officially kicking off this year’s event. These survivors are the reason we continue the fight. Their participation inspires hope in those currently battling cancer. We were especially honored by our youngest survivor battling neuroblastoma, 18-month-old Mia Rose Jester. Baby Mia and colon cancer survivor JoAnn Palazzo (survivor committee member) cut the ribbon officially starting the survivor lap. Special recognition also goes out to caregivers who attended the event and walked the second lap of the evening with the respective survivor. At the height of the evening approximately 1,500 people were in attendance at this year’s event.

A special thanks to the many Relay For Life volunteers who worked to make this event a success. Through the dedication of a great committee, we introduced two new events this year: “Cancer Tees Me Off” Golf Tournament and “Bark For Life.” The Relay For Life committee did an outstanding job of putting all events together and worked tirelessly to make each event special for everyone.
