Despite having to reschedule due to Hurricane Sandy, the 2nd annual Cartacula event was a success. Golf carts from all around Sneads Ferry showed up on Halloween night to parade down Peru Road, from New River Marina to Capt. Jimís, handing out candy to onlookers along the way. Carts were in an array of themes: from a clown and a fire truck, to a witch on her broom. There was even an awesome two-story haunted house. The event ended at Capt Jimís where everyone enjoyed snacking on pizzas donated by Dominos and Denoias, cookies and ice tea by Subway, and fried chicken by Two Old Guys. Carts, people and pets were judged, with prizes awarded for the best cart, best costume and best pet costume. Prizes for best cart went to Teresa for her cart decorated as a clown, with a close second going to Caleb and Josh for their fire truck. Best costume went to Marlene and Mike for their pumpkin, and Abbigail as a leopard. Best pet award went to Salty, the hot dog. Gift certificates and gift bags were from Cancun Mexican Restaurant, Madisonís, New River Harley Davidson and pet treats from Pet Mart.
Our thanks to Loggerhead Printing, Tim Supple and Deirdra McKeown Photography, New River Marina and Capt. Jimís.
The hosts of Cartacula Ray and Carol, seen here with their decorated golf cart, want to thank all the businesses listed above for their support and for all the carts that participated. These are the ones who made this event a success!
